Autologous Serum Tears

BLOOD DERIVED OPHTHALMIC DROPS

Your Blood, Your Eyes

Autologous serum tears (ASTs) are customized eye drops made from a patient’s own blood to treat a variety of ocular surface diseases. While we refer to these specialized drops as AST, they’re may also be referred to as autologous serum eye drops or serum drops.

These drops work by mimicking the biochemical properties of natural tears in order to heal the eye and may be more effective than Artificial Tears or other lubricating drops. Your physician will determine if you may benefit from adding autologous serum tears to your current treatment.
